Our book review team is a mature group of Christian young adults who are passionate about reading and writing. They combine these two fields expertly in their reviews, showing some of their writing flairs whilst dissecting nearly all genres of literature. The team has great diversity, a remarkable ability, and astounding insight.
AJ Timberlake – Leader
Hey guys! My name is AJ and I lead the book review team at Reckless Abandon Ministries. I love to read and generally make my way through between fifty and one-hundred books per year. I have been an avid reader since the age of four with my favorite book being Thursday’s Children by Rumor Godden. However, I enjoy many different genres including fantasy, dystopia, mystery, young adult, classic, self-help and of course christian. In fact I will read pretty much anything including shampoo bottles and the credits after a movie.
Hey! I’m Haley and I’m a senior at Clarks Summit University in the Communication Writing program. I love to write and I love people, and I’ve been able to see God combine those two passions so many times in my short life. Reckless Abandon Ministries exists to encourage students to all out for God; to recklessly abandon all that we hold dear for the One who gave up His own life for us. What a beautiful and passionate way to live life! I’m excited to explore the future (specifically on the mission field), but right now I’m content serving Him as a student, friend, coffee barista, daughter, sister, mentor, and now as the editor for the Book Review Team. Here’s some advice: before going any further, grab a peppermint mocha in your favorite mug and curl up somewhere comfortable. You’re going to be here a while!
Hello, my name is Brad Grizenko. If it were to summarize my life I would simply say, “I am a sinner saved by grace with a passion for the one who saved me.”. I was saved at an early age and often lost sight of Christ. Today I can look back though, and see how God was working through everything to grow me into the likeness of His Son. I am still a work in progress but it is comforting to know that Christ is greater than my sin. Victory truly is in Jesus. These past few days of my life have made that quite clear. At this moment I am a pastoral intern at Faith Baptist Church in Dundee, NY. I find true joy in serving whether it be vacuuming or teaching. I am also a student at Piedmont International University. I love God’s Word and I love studying it, which my major in Biblical Studies has afforded. I read books whenever I get a chance but ultimate Frisbee is always a close second. But enough about me…
Hi! My name is Kara Foster and I am one of the book reviewers for Reckless Abandon. I am currently studying Literature at Clarks Summit University so I think it’s safe to say I have a passion for words and books. I am the oldest child in my family and have a very fat cat named Gigi after a cat in one of my favorite Studio Ghibli films, Kiki’s Delivery Service. Besides my love of books, I also enjoy watching Disney movies, snuggling cats, learning about new places, and following where Jesus leads. Some of my favorite books/series include but are not limited to- Pride & Prejudice, The Book Thief, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Howl’s Moving Castle, Harry Potter and anything by Lisa T. Bergen.
Hiya! My name is Jessica and I am a crazy redhead! I am the second eldest out of five children, and life is pretty interesting. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, I spend every spare minute I have reading. I play the violin, viola, and piano, I love singing and I play on my church’s worship team. To those who know me, I am sparky and very loud, but I can be incredibly shy when around people I don’t know. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for me through this opportunity!
