We ended off the previous series with an article on resting, that set the tone for this month’s theme. During the month of March, we will be looking at the whole aspect of resting. This might sound strange to you, but don’t worry – we won’t be sharing nice lullabies or sleeping techniques, but rather how to rest in the Lord and what it means to rest in Him. Unrest can come in many ways, forms, and situations; from physical unrest to emotional turmoil and mental confusion – don’t know if you’ve ever longed for that ‘true rest’ in your own life. Or if perhaps we’re in the 3rd month of 2018 already and you haven’t even been able to take ground and you’re just weary, worn down by your studies, friends, or even ministries.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)

There are so many things that cause us to be in unrest. Unrest in our hearts; our lives can be in chaos through the circumstances; our relationships can be overwhelmingly unstable. Storms can be crashing over our little lifeboats, but if we truly know our Savior, we ought to know true rest too. The longer we walk on this journey with Him, the more we will realize how truly faithful He really is, unlike fallible humans. He is the only One who is consistent – always.  When we grow in the knowledge of our Lord, grow in His Word, we remind ourselves of His truths over and over and we will not always be in strife. He wants and commands us to rest. His heart for us isn’t that we always run around frantically. Whether it is physically or in our thoughts or being thrown around by our emotions, which are always so unpredictable – we can and should rest in Who God is.

“Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.” Psalm 116:7 (NKJV)

We will be covering a wide array of topics ranging from resting in your identity in Christ, in your calling, in your ministry. It means entrusting God with your whole being. Resting in the fact that we acknowledge that He truly has our best interests at heart and wants what is best for us. He is good; He has got your life, your heart, and your future. And I’m truly excited to see what God will be doing in each of us with this topic during this month.

May this month really be a blessing to you, as you realize that in Jesus there is truly rest for your soul no matter what you’re going through or where you’re at in your life. May you catch a glimpse of God’s heart for you and may you be able to see His goodness.
