In Hebrews 10, Christ’s sacrifice is laid out before us. It is the source of our hope, and our joy, and in verse 23 we read this:
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
We, as wretched and sinful as we are, do not deserve such faithfulness. Yet God has promised us so much more than JUST His faithfulness. That should be enough, shouldn’t it? It is MORE than enough, yet God loves us so deeply that He has promised us even more.
Because of God’s faithfulness, we can trust that God will keep every one of His promises. And this month, we are going to take an in-depth look at some of those great promises. Some of these promises, like that of forgiveness, will make your heart soar with joy. And some, like the promise of suffering, will maybe confuse you. But it is my turn to make you a promise…I promise you that every single one of God’s promises are good, because God is good.
My challenge to you, as you read about such promises throughout this month, is to remember Hebrews 10:23. Remember to hold fast, to hold unswervingly, “to the hope we profess”. Remember that the God who has promised us so much, is faithful. Unmistakably faithful.
Every promise of His, was made intentionally. Every promise He made, is for a purpose. Even when you fail at keeping your promises, He will not. Even when you fail in your own faithfulness, God will not fail in His. Always remember that.
