A Short and Sweet Introduction

How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers!” – Psalm 1:1

“Let everything that breathes praise the Lord. Hallelujah!” – Psalm 150:6

The above verses are the first and last verses of Psalms, an amazing book of the Bible. It is a book full of praises and laments, warnings and repentance, prayers and musings.

Psalms is one of my favourite books of the Bible as it usually has something that can be applied very easily no matter where you read from. It has verses that you can remember easily and can spend time focusing on throughout the day.

It also just has some fun aspects to hit. It is the longest book of the Bible with 150 chapters, it has the shortest chapter in the Bible (Psalm 117) and the longest chapter in the Bible (Psalm 119) and it marks the centre of the Bible with Psalm 118. It has many different authors who were experiencing many different aspects of life and it even occasionally contains some prophecy about what Jesus’ life would be like on earth.

This month The Heart of Teens team members have each chosen one of their favourite Psalms to share something with you about. It may be a verse, a paragraph or the whole chapter; they get to choose. I believe it will show you something more about who they are as they have each personally chosen which Psalm they want to share with you.

Doing the Psalms also makes this month just a little different because there isn’t a specific topic that we are sharing on. There are many themes in the book of Psalms and a couple of them will be shared on this month. It should be a refreshing change and a chance for you to see how amazing Scripture is on its own, even if we aren’t looking for a specific issue to share on.

I hope you will enjoy this month and will be able to dig deeper into God’s Word with us.
