So What Now?

It’s January again… of 2016! How crazy is that?! I cannot believe how quickly last year flew by. I can’t even begin to tell you guys how thankful our team is for your support this past year. When Christian approached me (figurative term… he actually had to message me because I live halfway across the world) in January of last year and brought forward the idea of starting a Christian blog for teens, I was willing, but not all that optimistic. The reason for this being that I have started, as well as kept up with, a couple of different Christian blogs over the years, and unfortunately, I’ve watched the majority of them fail. So there’s no way in a million years that I would have ever expected this. Here we are, exactly a year later. We’ve covered 10 topics, posted 89 articles (not including this one), and reached nearly 2,000 people. We’ve been blessed with an incredible team of authors that writes for us regularly. It’s just… it’s just crazy. God is awesome.

But… that was last year. And as cool as it was, it’s the past now. So let’s talk a little bit about our plans for the blog in relation to 2016.

Over the course of the last couple of weeks, our team has been brainstorming ways to make 2016 unique and different from 2015. We don’t just want to keep writing articles just for the sake of keeping the blog alive. As a result of this, we have come up with a number of really cool ideas that we will be instituting in the next few months. Unfortunately, I’m not able to share the majority of these with you at this time, but I am privileged to share one really cool thing with you. But first, let’s talk a little bit about our theme for January.

Our topic for the month of January is entitled “The NextGen Example”. We’re basing this theme off of 1 Timothy 4:12, which says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” We will be taking an in-depth look at each of these characteristics through a number of posts over the course of this month.

You know… I think that’s already pretty awesome, in and of itself. A whole month focusing on 1 Timothy 4:12? I mean, I’m amped. I don’t really think there is any other verse in the entire Bible that is more easy to find application from, specifically for teens. But that’s not THE cool thing that I’ve been waiting to share with you.

Last February, when we had our first theme (Looking Toward Heaven), we only had four authors, including Christian and me. Christian had to write the majority of the articles,  but Kendal, Scott, and I also each wrote an article. Between the four of us working together, we were able to cover seven articles.

Now, 11 months later, we are privileged to have seven unique (different) authors that will be covering this month’s topic. And it’s really nice to have that many authors to help us out because it spreads out the writing responsibility. But that’s not the cool thing, because we’ve had seven regular authors helping us out for quite a number of months now.

No, the cool thing about this month, is that FIVE of our SEVEN authors are guest authors! In other words, all of the posts that are going to be covered this month, excluding the introduction (which I’m doing right now) and the conclusion (which AJ’s going to cover at the end of this month), will be written by authors that don’t regularly write for us (some of which have NEVER written for us). We have guest authors from several different countries that are teaming up to bring you this month’s theme.

How cool is that? Less than a year ago, we were just managing to scrape by with four authors. Now we’re privileged to be able to have the resources to put together an awesome team of guest authors to handle an entire month of posts! I’m gonna say it again… God really is awesome.

So yeah, I hope that you’re as amped as I am for this upcoming series “The NextGen Example”. I’m looking forward to an incredible month and an amazing year!

Well thanks for the good news, and blessings to you all, both regular and guest authors. I’m a Grandma who reads your blog all the time. Really! Believe it or not, I not only have teen grandchildren, but also teen friends. I save your posts to review and share when they need help with something you have covered. I trust God will continue to guide you as you depend on Him while you write.
