Allow Me to Introduce Myself: An Introduction to Relationships

This month, The Heart of Teens will be discussing the topic of relationships. I promise that we will not overly dwell on relationships between girlfriend and boyfriend. In fact, our hope is to help you figure out how to strengthen your relationships with everyone in your life. I’m super-excited to dive into this topic and I’m going to refrain from stealing the other writers’ thunder and give you a general overview of relationships.

Believe it or not, you have relationships with hundreds of people. For example, if you get coffee every morning at a certain place and the same worker gives you your coffee 75% of the time, you have a relationship with that person. You may know very little about that person, but you still have a relationship with them. Now, our better relationships are those with God, family, and friends. I’m going to insert a diagram here that shows something really cool about our relationships.

The point of this diagram is this: Our relationship with God is the foundation for all of our other relationships. If our foundation is weak, the rest of our relationships will be on shaky ground and liable to crumble. This is one of the most important things to remember throughout this month. If your relationships with family and friends are struggling, that might be a sign that your relationship with God is struggling. You will have about four days until the next article. In those four days, I ask that you make a valiant effort to analyze your various relationships and rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. This will help you be better prepared to receive the articles for this month and it will hopefully show you what needs to change.

Your relationship with God is the foundation for all your other relationships. Pray about this statement and evaluate how strong your relationship with God is. Prepare to be challenged this month.
